The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, envisages to pay a visit to Libya shortly to express OIC support for Libya in the aftermath of the collapse or the regime of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and the beginning of a new stage in which the aspirations of the Libyan people toward democracy , justice, equality and rule of law, would be fulfilled.
Meanwhile, Mustapha Abdul-Jaleel, President of the National Transitional Council in Libya, expressed the Council’s pleasure to receive the OIC Secretary General. In a message sent to the latter, Abdul-
Jaleel expressed heartfelt appreciation for the OIC stand, support and backing for Libya to get rid of Gaddafi’s regime.
In his message, Abdul-Jaleel said that he recalls “with great appreciation these stands which will be recorded in Libya’s bright history”. He also stressed the intention of his country to proceed to fruitful cooperation with the OIC to service the Muslim Ummah, endeavor to promote peace and security, eliminate injustice, aggression, poverty, marginalization and exclusion, and to establish democracy in a climate where compassion and solidarity prevail.
