The foreign minister of the Libyan transitional government, Ashur ben Khaila [Ashour Bin Khayal] (pictured), has reportedly signed a memorandum normalizing relations with the state of Liberia.
The ministers met in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on the margins of the African Summit meeting.
The Liberian president sent a message of congratulations to the Libyan people on their successful elections; the country had severed diplomatic ties with the previous regime in April 2011.
