The Libyan government has asked Egypt to provide Libyan universities with tutors in various disciplines. It is estimated that Libya’s universities require more than 1,000 extra teaching staff for the upcoming academic year.

The request has been made within the framework of cooperation between the two countries. The academics would operate under the collective supervision of the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli, Egyptian Ambassador Hisham Abdel-Wahab, the Egyptian Cultural Centre in Tripoli and the Libyan Ministry of Higher Education.

According to sources, the Egyptian Cultural Counsellor in Tripoli, Hilali Sherbini, met Wednesday, with the Director of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Libyan Higher Education Ministry. The Libyan side provided lists of the teaching staff needed for the academic year 2012-2013 by the universities of Sirte, Jebel Al-Akhdar, Zawiya, Sebha and Asmariya Islamic University in Zliten. The actual number needed by these universities is put at 1,147 teaching staff members.
