Libya's General National Congress has approved the new government proposed by Prime Minister Ali Zeidan [Zidan].
Following the disruption by protesters of a planned vote on Tuesday, many of the 200 members did not attend Wednesday's shortened session. A total of 105 members voted in favour, with nine voting against, and 18 abstentions.
The defence and interior ministries are headed by ministers from Benghazi, considered to be the cradle of last year's revolution that ended Gaddafi's rule. Two women are also among the ministers.
