The Waha Oil Company has denied that oil exports from its terminal at Sidra (El Sider) were halted on Monday because of staff protests; according to a report from Libya Herald, the company reports that oil has been flowing at normal levels.
Waha staff in Benghazi demonstrated on Monday at what they claimed was the marginalization of the company’s Benghazi branch, which they said was being denied the staff it needed to provide adequate services.
In addition to hiring more staff, protesters demanded that the head of the Benghazi office, Yusef Buzarida, be reinstated, and that the branch be given greater power and be put under the direct authority of Waha’s chairman, as opposed to the company’s head of transport and services as is currently the case.
