Shell said on Wednesday that it remained interested in oil and gas exploration opportunities in Libya after abandoning drilling in two blocks earlier this year, according to a report from Reuters.
In May of this year, Shell Exploration and Production Libya GmbH told the National Oil Corporation (NOC) that it intended to suspend and abandon drilled wells and stop exploration in Libyan licenses LNGDA and Area 89, following disappointing results.
"That was just a project exit. We did not exit Libya," said Nureddin Wefati, head of media relations for Shell's upstream activities in the Middle East and North Africa, told Reuters at the North Africa Oil and Gas Summit.
