Albania's Defense Ministry has denied claims by opposition lawmakers that it breached an international arms embargo on Libya.
The Secretary General of the Defense Ministry, Edvin Kulluri, told reporters:
"The contract for ammunition export has been reached with a friendly country and its armed forces, which, according to the UN Security Council expert panel, are end-users.
"The UN has started an investigation into an amount of 800,000 12.7 mm rounds of ammunition, which have been found in other destinations. According to the panel's report, this amount of ammunition has been delivered to support the anti-Gaddafi rebel forces."
