A United Nations expert has called on Libya to establish a road map for the prevention of accidents and work related sickness in the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) World Health & Safety Day at the Tajoura industrial research centre, Prof Dr Satya P Bindra said there was an urgent need for Libya to adopt best practices in the work place, reporting and diagnosing the "silent epidemic killer widespread in the country".
He added that Libya, in partnership with foreign government and companies, must unite with confidence, determination and strength to start rebuilding schools, hospitals, factories and other workplaces, costing hundreds of billions of dollars, that were destroyed during the previous regime and during the 2011 conflict.
