The Chairman of British frozen food retailer Iceland has said he's amazed at the popularity of the company's one store in Libya.
Malcolm Walker (pictured) added that the Middle East is a “big opportunity” for Iceland’s export business.
The company opened a franchised store in Tripoli earlier this year and, while it has no plans to open further franchised stores, the Iceland Libya Facebook page has racked up more than 45,000 ‘likes’, according to Retail Week.
Dubai-based retail specialist Landmark Group invested in Iceland last year as part of a £1.45-billion management buyout.
Other British retailers in Libya including Debenhams and Mothercare.
