A source at Italian oil major ENI has told New Europe that the company will not withdraw any of its employees from Libya.
This is despite BP's announcement that it has withdrawn some non-essential staff from operations in Libya, as a precautionary measure, due to the security situation in the country.
ENI and BP returned early to Libya as the civil war drew to a close in 2011. ENI is more involved in Libya, which is a former Italian colony, than the British oil and gas major.
Prior to the civil war, around 14% of ENI’s hydrocarbon production come from Libya, but it still has not returned to the pre-conflict level.
