DW Akademie, part of the German international broadcaster Deutsche Welle, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Libyan government for collaboration with pubic and private sector broadcasters in Libya.
The agreement, signed by the Acting President of the GNC, Jumaa Ateega, and Martin Hilbert of DW Akademie, is expected to strengthen cooperation in training and developing Libyan media as well as providing strategic planning and helping to create a media law.
“The MOU is a result of two years’ work in Libya, which started in Brussels in June 2011″, said Khairi Abushagour Deutsche Welle’s Libya representative.
In December 2012, a number of Libyan journalists, Congress members, and other officials visited Germany for 10 days study German expertise in the field of media law and legislation.
The MOU opens the door to training courses, workshops and seminars for all GNC employees as well as all official bodies related to media such as the Ministry of Information.
