Malta's Foreign Ministry has launched an internal inquiry over allegations of corruption at its consulate in Tripoli.
According to a report from Times of Malta, extortionate fees were being demanded for granting urgent visas, with applicants being charged as much as €3,000 for a visa that should cost €70.
The ministry said it had learned of these allegations in recent weeks and an internal investigation was ordered last week.
