New US Ambassador to Libya Deborah Jones has arrived in Tripoli where she presented her credentials to the General National Congress, Libya's highest political and legislative authority.
Career diplomat Jones is a fluent Arabic speaker and has spent several years working in US embassies across the Arab world.
She succeeds former ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, who was killed along with three other Americans when Islamists overran the US Benghazi mission on September 11 last year.
Despite a FBI-led investigation, no one has been charged with the killings. The incident remains a political football, with Republicans accusing the Obama administration of a cover-up.
