Libyan authorities have reportedly barred thousands of Egyptian workers from returning from vacation.
Two thousand Egyptian expats, mostly from Upper Egypt, were not permitted to re-enter Libya at the border crossing with Egypt at Sallum due to "lack of official residency permits", according to Al-Ahram Arabic news website.
Egyptian authorities, meanwhile, pledged to take the necessary measures to "legalise their status."
Officials estimate that 1.6 million Egyptians work in Libya, which has a population of 6.5 million.
