The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has invited offers for the installation of 500-600 MW gas turbine generators at the existing Khoms Power Station.
Libya Herald reports that electricity companies are being invited to submit offers for the design, installation and commissioning of the generators.
The expansion project, initiated during the Gaddafi regime, was put on hold by the revolution.
Once the project at Khoms is underway, expansion of power stations in other towns and cities will be considered, a spokesman for the ministry said.
