A 26-year-old German received a two-year jail sentence, suspended for four years, after pleading guilty to stealing two Mercedes C-Class cars, one of which was sent to Libya.
Malta Today reports that Julian Buhr, originally from Munich but living in Malta, rented the vehicles in Germany and drove them to Malta where he sold them to Libyan national Faisal Wadi for €28,000.
Police have recovered one car while another one was already exported to Libya.
Buhr was also ordered to pay the €60,000 owed to his victims within the next six months under pain of being in breach of the suspended sentence.
