Following consultations with the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), the EU Air Safety Committee has decided to retain the ban on Libyan Airlines and Afriqiyah Airways flying their own aircraft in EU airspace.
While noting that "progress continues to be made", it said that the restrictions will remain "under close monitoring" by the EU Commission and the EU Air Safety Committee.
Since the Libyan revolution, the restrictions apply to all airlines licensed in Libya.
Both airlines will continue to service their European routes with wet-leased aircraft and crew.
