The Minister of Oil and Gas, Dr. Abdulbari Alarusi [Al Arusi], has called for force to be used to reopen oil ports that were seized by a group demanding greater autonomy for the country’s eastern region.
He told Reuters:
"The ports have been closed for five months; in my opinion, force should be used to reopen them."
and added that the Marsa al Hariga port was expected to resume operations in the near future:
"We have a lot of storage facilities there and I expect that it will reopen soon."
