Libya Herald reports that up to 2,000 Libyan troops are to be trained in Italy in 2014.
340 soldiers are currently being trained in the country under the programme, organised by the Italian Ministry of Defence. Other training initiatives, with Britain, the United States and Turkey, are also underway.
As well as supporting the armed forces, the Italian government also provides special assistance to Libya in areas of public administration and the local economy, the Italian Embassy told the newspaper.
