The G7 leaders, meeting in Brussels, have reaffirmed their support for a free, prosperous and democratic Libya.
The group also expressed serious concern at the recent violence and urged all Libyans to engage with the political process through peaceful and inclusive means, underpinned by respect for the rule of law:
“We urge continued and coordinated engagement by the international community to support the Libyan transition and efforts to promote political dialogue, in coordination with the UN and with the UN Support Mission in Libya fulfilling its mandate in that respect.
"We ask all in the international community to respect fully Libyan’s sovereignty and the principle of non-intervention in its affairs.”
