The Ministry of Interior has reportedly fired 214 employees who failed to turn up to work.
According to Libya Herald, the sacked workers had either been taking long unauthorised periods of time off or been signing in at the start of the working day and then immediately leaving their offices.
Interior ministry spokesman Rami Kaal told Libya Herald:
“This is a demonstration that the ministry is getting tough. It is an administrative revolution ...
“There are clear terms of service for civil servants, and the rules apply to everyone. These sackings are a warning to other employees that they are supposed to do a day’s work for a day’s pay.”
The Ministry also fired workers in January, but the spokemand did not have the numberto hand.
