The United Nations has announced that the Special Representative for the Secretary-General for Libya, Tarek Mitri (pictured), continues to serve as head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
Mr. Mitri will hand over his duties to his successor in September, and will complete his assignment at the end of that month.
When his one-year term was renewed a year ago, Mr. Mitri declared then that he did not wish to stay in his post for more than two years.
