Algeria has reportedly deployed some 50,000 troops along its 1,000 km border with Libya, but said it does not believe in military options as a solution to the crisis hitting the region.
The country's Foreign Minister, Ramtane Lamamra (pictured), is quoted as saying that "Algeria shares with all neighboring countries, the desire to help Libyans to launch a comprehensive national dialogue to reach national reconciliation, in support to the steps that have already achieved in the process of building state institutions."
He added that his country's attitude is based on the "bitter experience" that Libya has gone through, which "proves that military option cannot be a solution; we still insist on political options."
