The Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni (Pictured), said on Friday that Italian military intervention in Libya was out of the question though Italy could give its contribution ''to maintain peace, though within a UN framework''.
He told the State broadcaster Rai3's Agorà program:
''Perhaps we made a mistake three years ago ... Italy was very weak, intervention started. It was a mistake to intervene without thinking about the aftermath.
''Today Libya is without control, without a central government, it is a hub of passage [for illegal migrants] towards Europe.''
