The European Union is reported to be considering closing its border-control mission in Libya.
The EU Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM) Libya service, which costs €26-million a year to run, was launched in May 2013, but moved to Tunisia since July last year due to fighting in Tripoli.
Tasked with supporting the Libyan authorities in improving and developing the security of the country’s borders, EUBAM has had little opportunity to make an impact.
