Reuters reports that commercial flights from Libya to mainland Europe have resumed after a gap of more than six months follow an attack by Libya Dawn on Tripoli airport.
On Saturday, Libyan state carrier Afriqiyah Airways flew between Tripoli's Matiga airport and Duesseldorf in Germany; the airline also plans to fly to Rome in the coming days.
Turkish Airlines briefly returned last year, flying from Misrata, east of Tripoli, but recently stopped due to repeated air strikes on the airport.
To get around a flight ban by the European Union, Libyan carriers need to contract firms operating planes registered in the European Union.
