ISIL has gained control of key buildings in former Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi's hometown, Sirte, and its influence extends further east to the oil rich region of Nufaliya.
Pushing for more territory in the war-torn country, ISIL has promised to take the conflict to Misrata, some 250km west of Sirte.
