The Ambassadors of the European Union, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States to Libya have made the following joint statement, today, 9 June 2015:
“We welcome the presentation of the fourth and final draft of the Libyan Political Agreement by the UNSRSG Bernardino Leon, which represents more than six months of intensive consultations by the UN across Libyan society with the support of the international community.
"This document represents a sincere attempt to reflect Libyan views, addressing the concerns of all parties based on their input. We believe it is a balanced document which offers the best way forward.
"We now go to Berlin where the Libyan delegates will meet with the five Permanent Members of the Security Council plus Italy, Germany, Spain and the EU. We believe that the Libyan people have made clear their desire for peace.”
