The members of the Security Council welcomed the initialling of the Libyan Political Agreement of Skhirat, Morocco on 11 July by the majority of the Libyan delegates.

The members of the Security Council recognised the political will and courage demonstrated by those who initialled this draft agreement, which seeks to resolve Libya’s institutional and security crises.

The members of the Security Council called on all parties to engage with the Libyan Political Dialogue and unite in support of this agreement which will move the political transition process forward, through the formation of a Government of National Accord.

The members of the Security Council support the formation of a Government of National Accord to help rebuild the country, and to tackle the growing threat of terrorism in Libya and its neighboring countries.

The members of the Security Council encouraged UNSMIL to advance relevant efforts for coordination of international assistance to a future Government of National Accord.

The members of the Security Council thanked the Special Representative to the Secretary General (SRSG) Bernardino Leon for continuing his tireless efforts in this UN-facilitated, Libyan led dialogue process and agreement.

The members of the Security Council expressed their gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco for its efforts in advancing this agreement, including in hosting the Libyan dialogue.

The members of the Security Council also expressed their gratitude to other neighbours and regional partners, including Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia, for their contributions to the process.
