The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has formed a committee to accelerate talks with protesters and reopen the country's Sharara and El Feel [El Fil, Elephant] oilfields, which have been closed for months, according to a report from Reuters.
The two fields together used to produce around 400,000 barrels per day, and their reopening would effectively double the country's production.
No timeline has been given for the reopening of the fields.
