A wave of new arrivals of refugees in Sicily has prompted Italian politicians to suggest a new deal between Italy and Libya could be necessary to keep people out.
But it would be hugely controversial.
The last such arrangement was between Silvio Berlusconi and Muammar Gaddafi.
