CILG - VNG International announces the official start of its “Libya Local Governance and Stabilization Programme”.
The Centre for Innovative Local Governance, the regional office of the International Agency of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities, (CILG – VNG International) announced the official start of its European Union funded “Libya Local Governance and Stabilization Programme” on April 2016 in Tunis.
The announcement was made during the kick-off event organized with the presence of European Union representatives, 42 delegates from 20 Libyan municipalities represented by mayors, municipal councilors, women councilors and planning officers in the municipalities, 5 representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Libya, international implementers on Local Governance and peace building in Libya, and experts on local development and Local Governance from Tunisia and Libya.
The “Libya Local Governance and Stabilization Programme” is a three-year programme, funded by the European Union with co-financing from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and aims to contribute to strengthen and empower local governance in Libya. The programme aims to improve municipal management, basic service delivery and to increase the participation of CSOs in local affairs and conflict prevention – with special attention to youth and women.
