Within the framework of the continuing field visits to monitor the implementation of production increase and maintenance plans and their progress, NOC Chairman Mustafa Sanalla paid a visit to some oil fields located in Sirte Basin area including Waha Field and Defa Field in which he looked at the progress of work.
The current production from Defa Field is about 50 thousand barrels a day which was accomplished by the persistence and hard work of the workers in the field, of whom many are recently graduated young men. They are doing a perfect job in maintenance works despite the lack of spare parts.
Sanalla said:
"Waha Oil Company used to produce more than 300 thousand barrels a day in normal conditions and these figures will return through their great determination and belonging to this nation.
"It is a strange paradox to see today some youths working hard and loyally to increase production and income for the State while there are others of the same age who are compelling, bargaining and blackmailing Libyans through their closing of oil fields and pipelines. I am proud of all the 57 thousand employees of the sector none of whom was part of the problems of the blockades and sit-ins."
Sanalla was accompanied by Messrs. Abulgasem Shingheer and Jadalla Aloakali, NOC Members of the Board of Directors; Mr. Mohamed Zenati, Acting Chairman of the Management Committee of Waha Oil Company; Mr. Jalal Abugdeira, Manager of the Company's Operations; and Mr. Anwer Aqeel, NOC Manager of Production Department.
