“This committee need international support. This workshop is part of this support. We need to make people in Libya aware of the situation of IDPs. Libya is still a complex context, but this meeting was a very useful step to try to face the challenges of the conflict,” argued Dr. Ibrahim Rabu, a member of the High Committee.
During the closing ceremony, Maria do Valle Ribeiro, DSRSG and UNDP Resident Representative, confirmed the United Nations commitment “to support this committee to achieve real results for a more stable Libya.”
This event was part of the project “Towards National Reconciliation in Libya” which aims at assisting Libyan national and local authorities, civil society and other partners in their effort to promote an inclusive vision for a comprehensive national reconciliation strategy that will adequately contribute to peace building in Libya.
The next step after this agenda will be a follow up with the committee as the process of ensuring the integration of IDPs into their return or host communities.
