The European Union has reportedly agreed sanctions on three Libyan leaders who oppose Libya's new Government of National Accord (GNA).
The three men are:
- Nouri Abusahmain, president of the Tripoli-based General National Congress (GNC);
- Khalifa al-Ghwell, prime minister of the Tripoli government; and,
- Aguila Saleh, the president of the previously internationally recognized parliament in Tobruk.
A senior EU diplomat told Reuters that sanctions have been agreed, and although the legal text still needs to be drawn up, no government is expected to object.
The move would clear the way for travel bans and asset freezes on those named.
