The United Nations Mine Actions Service (UNMAS) and Arms and Ammunition Advisory Section (AAAS) of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has brought together 23 members of its Libyan mine action partners for a 5 day workshop, from 14 – 18 March, on the pillars of humanitarian mine action and their capacity to implement activities across Libya.
This workshop aimed to provide a platform for our national actors to interact with the international partners, the National Authority and UNMAS in a collaborative and interactive manner, documenting the challenges and capacity of each actor, and equipping them with base-line knowledge on procedural issues and principles of humanitarian mine action.
This workshop has produced guidelines, templates, activity mapping, capacity matrices, and fostered dialogue and decision-making on a range of humanitarian topics. These will be used to increase efficiency and mobilize resource for in Libyan Mine Action.
UNMAS is grateful to the Libyan partners for their lively participation in the workshop, demonstrating their dedication to the recovery and stabilization of Libya.
