CILG-VNGi organizes a workshop on "Assessment of urban planning, capabilities and the provision of local services"
Within the framework of the EU funded “Libya Local Governance and Stabilization Programme”, the Centre for Innovative Local Governance, the regional office of the International Agency of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNGI), (CILG – VNG International) organized a workshop on "Assessment of urban planning, capabilities and the provision of local services" on May 30-31, 2016 in Djerba, Tunisia.
This workshop was attended by Libyan Urban Planning Officers, Sanitation Environmental Officers, Utility Officers, Project Officers, HR Managers and Municipal Councillors representing the municipalities of Zouara, Nalout, Wazen, Ghariane and Tarhouna. Also present were representatives from the Tunisian municipality, Dehiba and Tunisian experts in Urban Planning.
The workshop was an opportunity to define the framework that organizes the different pillars of urban planning, the infrastructure and the development. It was also an occasion to find out the different needs in urban planning for the different concerned municipalities and the ways to develop them and overcome those challenges.
The meeting was also, in the first place, an occasion for the different Libyan Officers to meet and to exchange experiences and point of view, given that there are no many occasions that allow them do so in Libya itself.
