Company eyes Libya push with new office

Action Global Communications, parent company to Action Bahrain, an independent, full-service public relations consultancy, has announced the opening of an office in Tripoli, Libya, in response to growing demand from existing and prospective clients.

The Action network now covers the whole North Africa region and Action Libya brings the total roster of Action agencies to 44, of which five are in North Africa.

The Action Libya office will provide full-service integrated public relations and communications as well as event management, media monitoring and media training.

It will be led by country manager Radwan Gariani and supported by a start-up team of three staff.

Mr Gariani has more than 12 years of experience of working in the communications field in Libya and abroad, advising international as well as local companies.

Based in central Tripoli, the agency is well positioned to reach the growing number of media outlets that have sprung up since the end of the war.

"The opening of our office in Libya is a true first and marks the establishment of professional, full-service public relations in the country," said Action Group founder and chief executive Tony Christodoulou.

"Before the fall of the Gadaffi regime, every aspect of the media in Libya was controlled by the state, so professional PR was unable to flourish.

"Now we are witnessing the liberalisation of the Press, TV and radio and rapid growth in the number of publications, channels and stations.

"By expanding our network into countries and places where others fear to tread, we are bringing professional practices and international standards to emerging markets and can better serve our multinational and local clients," he added.

"We are already getting calls from PR companies in the Gulf region who would like our help in Libya," Action Bahrain acting country manager Rohan Shanker said.

"Action has an unmatched network in all the main emerging markets and over the last 15 years we have been able to support many of the PR agencies across the region that do not have offices in the markets where we are active," he added.
