Russia's Gazprom Neft has sent Italian energy company ENI notification of intent to exercise an option for the purchase of a stake in the Libyan "Elephant" [El Fil, El Feel] oilfield.
According to the report from RIA Novosti, the next phase of the project requires Gazprom to send equipment to the Libyan state-run National Oil Corporation (NOC).
