UK Workshop on Doing Business in Libya

Following the UK Middle East Association's extremely successful workshop in February, the MEA, supported by UKTI, will be hosting a second innovative workshop on how to do business in Libya.

Much like the first, this event will be for UK businesses looking to invest in the country and will take place at Bury House, London, on Thursday 11th April 2013, 9am-6pm.

This interactive event will begin with a political and economic overview, followed by a series of speakers providing expertise on fundamental business practices in Libya, such as licensing, registering your business, winning tenders and tax regulations etc. The workshop will include speakers from the Embassy, UKTI and various private sector companies with experience of doing business in Libya.

The Libyan economy is expected to recover rapidly from 2010-2011 levels and there is strong UK government support for developing long-term relationships with Libya, both at the ministerial level and through an increased range of products from UK Export Finance.

As Libya lays out the future plans for its economy and the rebuilding of the country, this is an ideal time for UK companies to start thinking about investing in the market and establishing their relationships and presence in Libya.

The workshop will cover:

  • Introduction & Overview: MEA, UKTI & FCO
  • Market information.
  • Logistics: getting out there, Visas, Security etc.
  • Cross-cultural awareness
  • Setting up a business, registering etc.
  • Licensing, tax and employment laws etc.
  • Distribution and export etc.
  • Tenders, Contracts etc.
  • Security update
  • Networking reception

Following the last workshop’s popularity, and being fully subscribed well before the registration deadline, we highly recommend you return your form to the MEA as soon as possible due to limited spaces available.

Cost for this event is FREE for Members and £50 + VAT for non-members. To register for this event, please do so online or return the attached form to Jacqui Marshall, jacqui.marshall@the-mea.co.uk, at the MEA.
