Libya Herald reports that the Chinese car manufacturer Geely has unveiled its latest model, billed as “a reliable, safe and affordable car,” made in China to strict European standards.
Libyan distributor Al Bustan Al Zahaby says the Geely Emgrand comes in several models with prices ranging from LD 8,700 [$6,700] to LD 17,000 [$13,100].
The company hopes the imports will help create 120 new jobs and at least 200 further indirect jobs in sales, engineering and logistics, by 2014.
The Geely Emgrand C7 is the only Chinese car to have passed all tests and been awarded four stars in European safety tests.
Geely took over Swedish car maker Volvo in 2012, and is looking to become a serious player in the world car industry.
