The German Society for Reactor Safety (GRS, Gesellschaft für Anlagen- und Reaktorsicherheit) is offering to share its experience in securing and making safe radioactive sources with the Libyan Atomic Energy Establishment (AEE).
Libya Herald reports that for more than a year the GRS and the AEE have been discussing cooperation on the safety of Libya’s nuclear facilities.
These include the 10MW research reactor at the Libyan Nuclear Research Centre in Tajoura, which was built by Russia in the 1980s. No formal agreement has yet been made, however, according to a spokesperson for the German embassy in Tripoli.
