The son of Libya's former leader Moammar Gadhafi has appeared in a courtroom in the western town of Zintan where is being tried on charges of jeopardising national security.
Saif al-Islam is also being charged with war crimes in a Tripoli court, but since he was in a remote tribal village, he missed his arraignment hearing in the capital, underscoring the central government's difficulty in asserting its authority nearly two years after the end of the country's civil war:
