According to the Libya Herald, a road between Tajoura and the Suq Al-Juma district of Tripoli was closed two nights ago by people protesting the disappearance of a local man under mysterious circumstances.
It remains unclear whether the man has been kidnapped or arrested, according to a local resident. The Libya Herald’s source added that the thoroughfare had been barricaded with concrete blocks.
Two vehicles attempted to navigate their way through the blockade the morning after it was erected, and were apparently attacked by the protestors. A refrigerated van was reportedly set ablaze, and a taxi driver was physically assaulted and had his vehicle badly damaged.
The road remains closed, with no sign of security officials trying to intervene and reopen the road.
