The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reported to be considering lifting a long-standing ban on Libyans coming to the US for training in the aviation and nuclear fields.
The prohibition was put in place by the Reagan Administration in the 1980s after a wave of terrorist incidents involving the former Gaddafi’s regime.
Accordig to Tripoli Post, the Obama administration justifies lifting the ban on the basis that the United States’ relationship with Libya has been "normalized".
