The Minister for Oil and Gas, Dr. Abdulbari Alarusi [Al Arusi] (pictured), said on Sunday that Libya’s El Sharara field is currently producing oil at a rate of 300,000 bpd.
Peak output at the field is estimated at about 340,000 bpd.
He added:
“We have always been negotiating (with rebels) and hopefully we will come out with a peaceful solution because we don’t want to use force, unless we run out of other solutions.”
He told Reuters that Libya was producing around 650,000 bpd, of which 510,000 bpd was being exported, with the rest used to feed the Zawiya refinery, which is now back to full capacity of 120,000 bpd, and the 20,000-bpd Tobruk refinery.
