A spokesman for the National Oil Corporation (NOC) has said that an explosion occurred on a major oil pipeline overnight between Wednesday and Thursday.
The explosion happened south of the Ras Lanuf terminal at a pipeline running from the Tibisti and al-Bayda fields, which has been closed for more than two years.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately known, but one official said the blast was a result of sabotage.
